Football Victoria’s Community in Business (FVCIB) Half-Time Luncheon held on Friday, July 7, 2023 offered the perfect opportunity to celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 with a strong crowd in attendance at Leonda By The Yarra in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
FVCIB is a time for Victorian community members to network, reconnect and celebrate the game, with the Women’s World Cup a key focus for this event.
Hosted by Michael Zappone, attendees were presented with a recap of the spectacular Home of the Matildas facility at La Trobe University to open proceedings, featuring a launch video and photos.

One of the keynote speakers was Dr Shona Bass, Matilda Cap #2 and a Football Victoria Hall of Fame inductee. Her story was told in front of a captivated audience where she reflected on how the women’s game started and what it has grown to at the present day.
Among the other highlights, Football Australia Legacy 23′ Ambassador Kate Jenkins provided an address to guests, while a ‘Locker Room’ panel rounded out the afternoon, which included Paige Zois (Junior Commbank Matilda), Karly Roestbakken (Commbank Matilda) and David Basheer – he leads Channel 7’s commentary team for the upcoming global tournament.
