Football Queensland have announced the launch of an updated Start Futsal program for schools around the state.
“In the 2020-2022 Futsal Strategy, FQ outlined its plans to engage schools in futsal and grow participation among students,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The specialised Start Futsal program makes it easy for FQ and schools to come together to deliver high-quality participation experiences in fun and inclusive environments.
“With a refreshed program manual in place, our coaches have a resource that enables them to go into schools, work with teachers, and deliver a program that can be used in conjunction with the school curriculum.
“The launch of the Start Futsal program comes at the perfect time, as it aligns with FQ’s new Women and Girls Strategy and supports our development of football and futsal within Queensland schools.”
Each program is designed to be conducted over a four-week period, with FQ’s qualified and endorsed coaches to deliver the initiative.
“Futsal is perfect for school-aged kids. It teaches social skills and sportsmanship, and all participants get to experience a high level of individual involvement,” said Trevor Edwards, FQ Officer – Futsal.
“While each program typically runs over the course of four weeks, Start Futsal can also be adapted as a permanent addition to any school’s PE offering.
“The manual we have developed for coaches sets out Start Futsal’s objectives, step-by-step session plans and the best methods for delivering an effective program.”
