Yesterday on 3XY Radio Hellas, guest speaker Frank Kourelis spoke about a major potential development for Kingston City FC.
Kourelis, the club’s Director of Football, outlined a proposed investment that could reshape the club’s future. The project aims to transform Namatjira Park into one of the region’s most advanced community football hubs. Although the segment was not an official announcement, it still gave listeners a rare early look at the discussions taking place behind the scenes.
What’s Happened?
The $9 million proposal would redevelop Namatjira Park into a modern football and futsal facility. The plan focuses on creating new training areas, updated playing surfaces, and flexible indoor spaces. These upgrades would support both senior and junior programs and help the club manage growing participation. If approved in January or February 2026, the project would become one of the most significant infrastructure improvements in the club’s history.
Kourelis said the redevelopment would allow Kingston City FC to provide more space to the Kingston City Junior Team. The Junior Program continues to expand through its strong partnership with No Limits Football Academy. This collaboration has improved coaching standards and strengthened youth pathways. Better facilities would give young players more chances to develop and would lift the quality of the entire program.
Kourelis declined to comment officially before the final announcement.
However, he took the chance to correct several misconceptions raised on air the previous day, one key point involved rumours about competition between Kingston FC and local gridiron clubs for the use of the grounds, he explained that Kingston had competed for the space early in the process.
However, the gridiron clubs later conceded their interest, which cleared the way for the Club’s proposal to advance without conflict.
The Radio Hellas discussion has already sparked interest among supporters, parents, and local residents. Many see the upgrade as an overdue step that will strengthen football in the area. If the investment goes ahead, it will modernise local facilities and reinforce Kingston City FC’s position as a major sporting hub in the region for years to come.
